Told from the perspective of The Watcher, What If…? presents a bird’s eye of the multiverse, a much needed perspective as the MCU’s Multiverse Saga continues on.
While this year has been quieter than years past for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios has one final project on the horizon before 2024 comes to an end. Season 3 of What If…? will begin streaming on December 22, 2024 on Disney+, with episodes dropping daily.
Footage from the upcoming season in Marvel’s “Look Ahead” trailer for its upcoming slate shows Avengers like Captain America piloting mecha suits and what appears to be Shang-Chi in a cowboy hat. We’re especially drawn to the massive shield that the Captain America mech suit has. Was an entirely new, mecha-sized shield forged from vibranium specifically so Cap could still use his signature weapon? Or is it just made out of the same material as the mech suit? We know these aren’t the Real Questions we should be asking based on the footage, but we can’t help but wonder. Either way, it looks great.
