X-Men '97 delighted fans of Marvel's Merry Mutants from all walks of life earlier this year, and this train is showing no signs of stopping with season 2 on the horizon. During the Q&A after a marathon screening of all 10 episodes of X-Men '97 season 1 at the American Cinematheque's Aero Theatre this past Saturday, executive producer Brad Winderbaum confirmed that season 2 of X-Men '97 will feature two more X-Men teams. Winderbaum also noted that Polaris will be in season 2. 

"If you're fans of the comics, you know what teams [Polaris has] been on, so you can kind of put those pieces together... As many people in this audience are probably aware, there's many teams in Marvel that have the letter 'x' followed by a hyphen," Winderbaum said. 

X-Men '97 director Emi-Emmett Yonemura then chimed in and said, "There also used to be a reality show that had a similar name as one of them," before Winderbaum confirmed the news by saying, "There's two other X-teams in season 2." 

Polaris is perhaps best known for being a member of the team X-Factor in Marvel Comics. She is the daughter of the iconic X-Men villain, Magneto, and has mutant powers rooted in magnetism. X-Factor has now been confirmed for season 2 of X-Men '97, especially since Yonemura brought up the reality television show of the same name. 

We can only speculate on what the other X-Men team will be in season 2. Season 1 left a few options on the table. Forge, Wolverine, Beast, Cable, and Sunspot have all been on X-Force at one time or another. There was also a shot in season 1 of a group photo that featured Wolfsbane, who has been on both X-Force and X-Factor in the comics. On the other hand, season 1's use of Sunspot could easily set up the New Mutants for season 2. That said, the New Mutants' team name doesn't have an "x" in it, so they're looking less likely to appear in season 2. Either way, only time will tell which X-Men team will debut next on Marvel Animation's hit show.
