Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss made the cast into coworkers, but the convention circuit has made them into a family
How working the convention circuit brought the Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss cast closer together

The Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss cast really do make the cutest family, and we have the convention circuit to thank for that. Modern animated shows are recorded differently, with some actors contributing from home, or going to the studio without their castmates. As a result, some actors never get a chance to spend time with their co-stars. That’s where conventions come in.
“They’re like a second family, or like a third or fourth,” Blitzo actor Brandon Rogers says of his castmates while on the Hazbin Hotel panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2025. “I don’t know, working in showbiz you get a lot of families, because you work on a lot of productions, and just because a production is over doesn’t mean a family is. Yes, we all seem like a family on the show, but really getting to know these people on the weekends, we come here, we essentially travel together, sleep together, and come together.”
Rogers went to emphasize how convention panels and hours doing group photo ops have bonded the cast. “We get to spend a lot of time with each other and it does feel like a second family on the road. So yes, we are fairly close, but not because of the show. Because we go to cons all the time with each other. It’s like going on vacation with the same family weekend after weekend.”
Alex Brightman, who voices Robo Fizz, compares it to the sense of community found in musical theater. “This kind of stuff is not just for business. I’m from a very large community of musical theater, where I’m very glad to say that is also the whole point. It’s community theater. Just because it’s professional theater, that whole community part I think is so important for it to feel like a family without it actually being one, because there’s such responsibility with real family.”
“This is great. We get to do this three days at a time. I’m always excited to see Brandon, and we get to go out to lunch and talk about anything but the show, which is the best. There’s not one bad seed, except for Blake Roman,” Brightman says.
The actor clarified that he loves Blake Roman, and the comment was a joke. If anything, that joke reinforces their overall point, because nobody teases you like family.
