Robert De Niro will star in Netflix's political thriller series, Zero Day, about a US President investigating a cyberattack.

Netflix is firing from all cylinders with the upcoming Zero Day miniseries featuring Robert De Niro, Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Modine, and Dan Stevens. Zero Day, of course, is not to be confused with the Batman storyline, Zero Year, by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. If you've ever wondered what good other former US Presidents besides Jimmy Carter could do in their retirement, Zero Day is here to give you a clue.
Zero Day is set to be released on Netflix on February 20, 2025. The show is directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, a longtime director of Homeland. Glatter also directed four episodes of Twin Peaks, so she's got a lot of range. The show is executive-produced by De Niro, alongside Eric Newman from Narcos, and Noah Oppenheim of NBC News. Netflix has released a trailer for the series, which you can watch below.
In Zero Day, De Niro plays former President George Mullen, who takes the lead in an investigative group called the Zero Day Commission. The group forms in the wake of a devastating cyberattack that leaves thousands of Americans dead and many millions more shocked across the country. In jumping back into the world of politics, Mullen must confront the thorny meaning of 'truth' in today's world, as well as his own demons.
Of course, this isn't De Niro's first time working with Netflix. The actor starred in Martin Scorsese's critically acclaimed Netflix film, The Irishman. And given the circumstances of the story and the sight of Jesse Plemons in the trailer, I personally can't help but think of Plemons's character from Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon. Will Plemons in Zero Day also be sent from Washington DC to see about these murders? I hope so, but I guess I've got a lot of Scorsese on my mind. Either way, I suppose we'll find out soon enough when Zero Day releases.
Zero Day will be released on Netflix on February 20, 2025.
