Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio says Daredevil: Born Again will restart production "soon"
Back to Hell's Kitchen.
After an extensive rework of the entire series, it appears Marvel Studios' Daredevil: Born Again will be shooting sooner rather than later this year, according to one of its stars.
Fans of Daredevil, and the surrounding shows and characters, already have plenty to celebrate this week, as Echo is dropping all of its five episodes on Disney+ tomorrow, January 9. Since the show bridges Hawkeye and Daredevil: Born Again with the next chapter in both Maya López and Wilson Fisk's stories - and includes an appearance from Daredevil himself - plenty of tidbits about the upcoming reboot of the former Netflix series are surfacing.
During a recent chat with Collider about the next Marvel series coming to Disney's platform, Vincent D'Onofrio - the one and only Kingpin in live-action - teased when the new Daredevil series might back on its feet after the creative shakeup it underwent last year: "We’re getting back up. We’re gonna start soon, hopefully sooner than later, and Charlie [Cox] and I feel like the right vibe is there."
He also went on to praise some of the talent involved, letting fans know he's been following at least some of the recent Marvel TV shows, and picking two favorites: "I have to say, it’s luck, really. I mean, my favorite series so far have been Moon Knight and Loki, and we’ve got those guys as directors, and so that’s pretty lucky. And we’ve got Dario [Scardapane], who’s an incredible writer who wrote The Punisher. We’re in a very happy place right now." Indeed, it appears that Kevin Feige and the Marvel producers have simply chosen to trust creatives that have done solid work for them in the past.
Echo is the first Marvel Studios production released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which promises darker, more mature stories set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe but without tying into the larger narratives and mythologies. That doesn't necessarily mean Daredevil, Kingpin, and other street-level characters will be kept away from neighbors such as Spider-Man, but these shows will stand on their own and require no additional Marvel knowledge.
While Deadpool 3 is the only Marvel Studios movie set to release this year, more Disney+ shows are coming our way, and 2025 and beyond is looking quite busy, so be sure to check out our rundown of all the upcoming Marvel movies and TV series if you've lost track of the company's ever-changing plans.
