Superman should reconsider taking any vacations, because Lex Luthor is planning on sticking around. This summer, James Gunn’s Superman will feature the debut of Nicholas Hoult as the Man of Steel’s archnemesis Lex Luthor. We recently got our first look at Hoult’s Luthor in December’s Superman teaser trailer, and his aura was menacing. Hoult is a Golden Globe Award winning actor, so it will be interesting to see where he takes Luthor.During a spotlight panel at Megacon 2025, Hoult revealed that he’s not done with the character. However, what happens next is up to DC Studios (and the audience).

“There is so much that I want to do with Lex," Hoult says. "I hope I get to play that character for a while."

Gunn and Safran have a multi-year plan for their DC Universe, so hopefully that includes Luthor. Who wouldn’t love seeing Nicholas Hoult leading the Legion of Doom or taking on other superheroes? For now, the future of Hoult’s Luthor is under wraps. Until then, we can look forward to seeing his big screen debut on July 11.
