There comes a time in nearly every adult human’s life where they should dive into the world of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. The Canadian director managed to pull off the impossible with his excellent cinematic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s first Dune book. Beyond presenting the complex politics and history of Dune, Villeneuve’s directorial vision rendered Herbert’s ideas with a gorgeous sense of artistry onscreen. I mean, just look at those sandworms.
I’m a simple man with simple needs, which means that when I watch Villeneuve’s Dune films, I need to see them in 4K Ultra HD resolution. I need to see Josh Brolin’s Gurney Halleck playing the Baliset, in the highest resolution possible. You can now discover the wonders of 4K Dune for yourself with a 2-Film Collection now $29.99 on Amazon. It is 45% off, down from $54.99.
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films are not the first time that Frank Herbert’s space epic has been adapted to the screen. The first book was notably (and poorly) adapted by David Lynch in 1984, starring Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atreides (Agent Dale Cooper). For years, Alejandro Jodorowsky developed his own film adaptation of Dune that never materialized. The fact that the Villeneuve films even exist is a wonder. But given that they’re also gorgeous AND tell Herbert’s story well is even better. Sometimes, sci-fi fans do win.
