McKenna Grace is the new Jenna Ortega, in more ways than just being cast in Scream
Scream 7 isn't the first time that Mckenna Grace has boarded a project with 90s nostalgia

The 1990s have been back for some time now, with actress Mckenna Grace being one of the freshest faces behind this trend. As Deadline reports, actress has joined the cast for Scream 7, which will feature the return of Neve Campbell to the role of Sidney Prescott. With Jenna Ortega, the reigning queen of the 80s and 90s reboot, not returning for Scream 7, the franchise's future has looked nebulous recently. However, with Grace onboard, it's clear that the actress is not done with '90s blockbuster sequels quite yet.
The actress has made appearances in '90s TV reboots like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Fuller House, while also appearing in sequels to '90s movies like Independence Day: Resurgence. And, she also played a young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, which was set during the '90s. With this in mind, it seems like Mckenna Grace is poised to become a new face of Hollywood's love affair of the '90s.
Mckenna Grace has also been in the recent slew of Ghostbusters sequels, with this year's Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire barely breaking even at the box office. Grace has undeniably been the best part of the new Ghostbusters films. It's been interesting to see that as Hollywood has welcomed a steady stream of Gen Z actors, studios' plans to develop projects for franchises that began before its current cast members were even born show no signs of stopping. Despite Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire's lackluster performance, there still is a sequel reportedly in development. Let's just hope that Scream 7 is more in line with my favorite '90s sequel from 2024, Twisters.
