The world of Dune is huge and sprawling, offering storytellers plenty of opportunities to do something different with the setting. For Dune: Prophecy, the producers are stretching their creative muscles and delving into a host of genres for the prequel series on HBO and Max. It sounds like no matter what genre you’re a fan of, Dune: Prophecy will probably have something for you. Executive producer Jordan Goldberg dropped a few little hints about what fans can expect from Dune: Prophecy during their New York Comic Con 2024 panel.
“Dune offers so much… and the show benefits from it. We got political intrigue. We have action-adventure. We have romance. I mean, episode two has an unbelievable horror episode. There’s so much to give to the audience, and I think you’ll enjoy it.”
We certainly aren’t surprised by the inclusion of political intrigue or action-adventure vibes within Dune – they’re what the series is best known for, after all. However, the inclusion of horror elements in Dune: Prophecy episode two has us intrigued. The episode is titled Two Wolves and is due to air on November 24, 2024 on HBO and Max, so we won’t have to wait too long to see exactly what Goldberg meant.
If that weren’t enough, Jessica Barden, who plays a younger version of Valya Harkonnen in the show, doubled down on the political intrigue in the show. “Everyone’s got a knife,” she reminded the audience. “Everyone has a dagger. Like, a pocket dagger.”
New episodes of Dune: Prophecy debut Sundays on HBO and Max.
